Things to avoid doing with your coach
⚡️Arguing to prove them wrong, as opposed to being curious about how they might be correct about something.
Not agreeing with everything is healthy; in fact some need to learn this, however not knowing the difference between fighting for something vs. fighting against something is key.
Tricky Business
Being a coach or healer is not an exact science. If it needs to be categorized, it’s more of an art, than anything else.
Helping people can be tricky business. All of us have outdated alliances with unhealthy habits that no longer serve us; but because they’ve served us in certain situations of our past, we think they still work. Left unchecked, we can fail to actually look to see if that’s actually true.
It’s no easy task
It’s no easy task to be “in the world, but not of it," especially during these times.
Learning how to be connected with people & the culture we live in, but at the same time not be loyal to all the dysfunctional ways of being is no easy task …
Pain is inevitable, suffering is a choice
Whether we choose to “do the work” or not, pain will always be a part of our lives.
When I say “do the work,” I’m referring to being committed to our evolution & constantly working to develop.
Are you fighting for the coaching or against it?
A lot of people seldom ask themselves this question when they’re in a session, however the difference is huge.
It’s okay to disagree & struggle with the coaching, however it’s the way you disagree that can make the difference.
The body talks
The body is a communication center that houses all kinds of vital experiences, memories, traumas, desires & communications … & connecting with them is imperative for optimal health & healing to occur.
If what shows up in our (crazy) minds, also shows up in the body, then we can surely expect the body is always communicating with us about something … if only we would listen to it - the body talks.
Connect with your body, heal your body
Most people have heard of the mind-body connection, but they might not be able to physically FEEL that connection.
They don’t physically feel the relationship of how their unresolved feelings about all sorts of things, affects their health & body.
Communicate your feelings, heal your body
This might be a new concept for some, but it’s vital to understand nonetheless.
As a teacher of mine always says, “it’s all about communication.” What he means by this, is that no matter what's going on in your life, or what may be troubling you, being in communication about it, is vital for liberation & healing.
Two coaching styles
The more obvious type of coaching is the verbal communication-style, which provides clarity & feedback that helps people navigate all kinds of things.
This traditional kind of coaching is what most might expect to receive from a coach. It seeks to help people connect to their emotions with the use of specific communications & words.
Fear factor
I don’t feel people are doing very well these days & it bothers me. On a deep level, somewhere underneath it all, I probably feel some level of helplessness about it. Not the kind of helplessness that leaves me paralyzed in bed, I’m speaking about the kind of feelings that sit within the deepest aspects of me, that probably comes from somewhere in the past. I see clients all day long & enjoy a full life despite this feeling, & I feel fortunate that I have a skill-set that allows me to help.
Eternal contracts
We all have eternal contracts in areas of our lives that we excel in, meaning we take action & participate regardless of how we feel. But we do not have them in areas where things don't come as easily … which leads to achieving fewer results in these areas.
If you feel so inclined this year …
InstaGratification
There’s a lot going on in the world & it’s no surprise that a lot of people are struggling with anxiety & depression.
There are many reasons, too many to name, however, one reason is our relationship with social media.
More specifically, is, people are magnetized to constantly checking it for Instagratification(IG) as a solution to something; for instance, not wanting to deal with something in life or their feelings.
If I hold on tight, everything will be alright
A “Core Construct” is denoted by the formula, “If this, then that” … If I work hard, I’ll get rich; If I worry, bad things won’t happen. The list goes on & they are never true, but that doesn’t stop people from living by them.
The above is a “Core Construct” that is untrue … just as all others are.
The true you in 2022
It’s just as important to get resolved about what you won’t commit to this year, as it is to know what you will commit to.
More often than we’d like to admit, there are those things you swear up & down about that you’re committed to doing & yet you also find that you’re not taking any actions toward achieving them.
Happy holidays... & a "happy" new year?
I’m not quite sure if “happy” is apropos, because it just doesn’t seem to be fitting for the climate as of late; and yet I’m still wishing that for everyone nonetheless.
I think many are worn out over the last two years & for good reason. Many are feeling unmotivated, lacking morale & low on spirit. The way we’ve handled the virus has been unhealthy & it hasn’t necessarily been all that helpful (IMHO).
Truly accepting others for who they are can be painful
No, I’m not talking about the pseudo-spiritual kind of acceptance, where you know the “enlightened” answer of being accepting of all living things, while you manage & suppress your critical feelings of them.
Slow down to speed up
When looking to heal an injury of any kind, we must slow down & go back to basics in order to reclaim all the sensation & feeling in that area. We must mend the mind, body & emotional connection … we must learn to FEEL the connection, not just understand it.
I’ve moved
I’ve heard that moving one's home is stressful, but as I’ve been growing older & “wiser,” I now realize why.
Moving, regardless of what that may look like, causes upheaval. Our comforts are being moved, as are our routines.
Not only that, but it also opens up our emotions in ways that we may not ever have suspected would surface.
Dream vs. Fantasy
We cannot go back to who we once were, we can only look to create that which we commit to each day moving forward.
One cannot recapture a lost youth, but we can seek to regain a sense of innocence by healing past trauma.
We also cannot go back to an adolescence where we once thought we were confident, bold or self-assured, for example.
Fuh-ker-ry
It might be wise to start dealing with a bigger issue that people aren’t paying very close attention to … the fear they’ve cleverly displaced onto people like the unva₵₵inated. They’re not your problem, your lack of connection & introspection into your own unhealed trauma, mortality & existential fear is though.
